Partnering with The GAEC: A Full-Circle Grief Collaboration

I’m so excited to share that I’ll be assisting with social media for The Grief Awareness & Education Conference (GAEC) by running their Instagram page! You can now follow along for speaker announcements, behind-the-scenes content, grief education, and event updates at @TheGAEC.

This powerful event, taking place on September 20, 2025, at The Mark Twain House in Hartford, CT, was created by Kate Mollison, founder of On Tuesdays We Wear Black. Kate is a changemaker in the grief space working tirelessly to shift the way grief is acknowledged and supported in the world, especially in the workplace.

Kate and I first connected a few years ago when I began vending with HeartStrings Journals. An event host recommended the connection and encouraged me to reach out, knowing we shared something deep and painful in common: we had both lost our partners and turned our grief into purpose-driven work. Since then, Kate has become not just a collaborator, but a friend, mentor, and source of inspiration. Our shared experiences have led us to co-create events like Building Resilience, an educational workshop hosted this past January, and to participate in The Grief Festival, led by Carin Mikos of The Quietus House.

Our combined efforts are rooted not only in grief, but in how to move forward with resilience, grace, and intentional support. Kate is a force. Through On Tuesdays We Wear Black, she’s advocating for real change in bereavement policies and calling out the truth: 1–3 days of leave is nowhere near the support people need after a major loss. The GAEC is a bold, needed response to that bringing together voices, professionals, and community members to promote grief literacy, healing, and action.

“I strongly believe in Kate’s mission and know that her passion for creating change combined with her incredible ability to network will undoubtedly shift how grief is viewed in the workplace and beyond.”

As always, HeartStrings Journals will be along for the ride. I’ll have a table at both the GAEC Conference, with journals designed to support grief, mental health, and self-reflection. Whether you’re new to journaling or a seasoned writer, I invite you to stop by and find a journal that speaks to you.
